Spring time
It's spring here in Chicago - snow one day, sun and 70 the next, then pouring rain, repeat! Wild, yes, and it also helps me practice patience and appreciating the little joys.
🌊 My partner and I made it out for a beach walk Monday morning - it was a needed soul refresh, despite the biting cold wind.
🍵 A friend and I grabbed tea and vegan pastries from a local coffee shop and caught up. Vegan baked goods are much appreciated now with my newly diagnosed egg allergy. While I'd love to have all the dairy but not the eggs, no one really does that 😂
💗 35+ family members got together in St. Paul a couple weeks ago to reconnect. It was a lovely long weekend of kitchen dance parties, sunny walks and chats, No Kings rally sign making, and so much eating.
And the world continues to be a dark and frightening place - wars abroad; attacks on the bodies and human rights of trans folks, immigrants, and women here in the U.S.; climate change making the weather more wild and unpredictable; rampant inflation.
It's a lot and often difficult to hold multiple truths at once:
➡️Humans are amazing and smart and beautiful and full of so much love and whimsy.
➡️And humans can be capable of so much harm and destruction.
So I keep focusing on my core values and what I can control - joy, creativity, and adventure. And connecting with my loved ones. This afternoon I'm hanging with my brother and niblings, ahead of one nibling's musical theater debut at school. This weekend I get to see my friend's kid play hockey.
How are you finding joy and creativity these days?

Come see me talk for 2 minutes about something
What happens when you take 20 handpicked creatives and luminaries, give them each two minutes before a live audience and the same (fuzzy) question to unravel? That's the premise behind 20x2 Chicago.
Come see me April 26th for this edition's question of "Was It Worth It?"
