🔥Brigid's Day☘️
How is it that the world feels on fire and yet everything is also frozen. Neighbors are getting kidnapped and murdered in Minnesota and elsewhere by government agents, while swaths of states were hit by winter storms that exploded trees and cracked power lines. And that's just this country.
In the midst of all this, Sunday, February 1st is Brigid's Day, now a holiday in Ireland. It is also the Gaelic festival Imbolc, which welcomes the coming of spring.
Brigid (my middle namesake) was a Pagan goddess / priestess, later made a saint. Brigid and her priestesses tended an eternal fire in Kildare, Ireland, and she is considered a protector from fire and calamity. I could use a little protection from calamity and some warmth right now, so I hope that Brigid and Imbolc find you well. 🔥☘️

Connecting With My Community
Earlier this week, I got to celebrate with Habitat for Humanity Chicago on their successful fundraising efforts of Women Build 2025. Our build team - Team Gratitude - consisted of members from my networking group Women Belong (join me as a guest at our Rogers Park Circle sometime). It was a fun evening of catching up, eating cheese, and hammering nails. I tied for third place on that endeavor, in a silk scarf!
Eight hits to get that nail into the board - tied for third!
This is my year of cultivating consistent connection with my people, leaning in to real relationships, in-person and online, personally and for my business. It is vital that we maintain those relationships, maybe even more so than ever, as those in government leadership continue to push their divisive and hateful rhetoric, leading to harm and deaths of innocent people.
Here are a couple lists of numerous ways to support the Twin Cities right now:

Here is a great resource for Chicago:

Mexican neighborhoods have been especially hard hit by immigration actions. Food is love for me, and if you feel similarly, check out this list of Chicago's best supermarket tacos.
